Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi-Kani, the secretary general of Society of Combatant Clergy, stated on Monday that he will vote for Ahmadinejad. Mahdavi-Kani said he has decided to support Ahmadinejad after some examinations because he found him the most competent candidate.

The principlist Society of Combatant Clergy has stopped short of backing Ahmadinejad officially as some members of the group do not approve of the incumbent president’s policy. The society backs a candidate who can gain two-thirds of the members’ votes
Mahdavi-Kani said among the candidates no one gained the two-thirds of the votes needed.
Karroubi has no fear of devastating revelation
Presidential candidate Mahdi Karroubi stated on Monday that he has no fear of any unfavorable point being revealed that would undermine his campaign.
Commenting on President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s claims that he plans to expose his rivals in the scheduled televised debates, Karroubi told reporters at a press conference that his criticism of the administration is based on ethics and legal issues.
Ahmadinejad warned his rivals on Saturday that he will expose his presidential rivals in the televised debates which start on June 2.
Karroubi campaign director Gholam-Hossein Karbaschi said Karroubi’s proposals for running the country are the most “practicable and realistic” ever presented.
Karbaschi noted that Karroubi is surrounded by an experienced and competent team who have held executive branch posts and are aware of the statistics and the country’s potential.
Trial and error has no place in Mousavi’s approach
Hassan Rasouli stated on Monday that Mir-Hossein Mousavi will not govern the country through trial and error if he wins the June 12 election.
Mousavi will pursue a moderate foreign policy, the Baran Foundation member told a gathering of people in the city of Arak.
Rasouli also noted that some of the principlists are not happy with the current situation but they do not express their dissatisfaction openly to avoid antagonizing the parties or groups they belong to.
He added that more than 35 million eligible voters can change the result of the election in favor of the reformists.
People in large cities are more receptive to Mousavi
Abdollah Ramezanzadeh stated on Sunday that Mousavi enjoys more support than Ahmadinejad in large cities. Talking to Mousavi’s supporters in Yazd, he noted that reformists should take advantage of the current situation and avoid criticizing each other to win the election.
The deputy secretary general of the Islamic Iran Participation Party also said that the managers who are really serving the nation will remain in their posts if Mousavi is elected president.
He went on to say that according to reformists’ logic, decisions on managerial staff are based on “competence” and a competent manager will not lose his/her post.
Tehran mayor: Electorate must consider candidates’ records
Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf stated on Monday that the best criteria for voters to use are the candidates’ records.
He said all the candidates’ records are common knowledge and people should not be affected by slogans and campaigns in the days leading up to the election.
Rezaii vows to put youth at managerial posts
Presidential contender Mohsen Rezaii stated on Monday that country’s management should be vested to the youth. The former IRGC commander argued that poverty and unemployment will be reduced if the youth are given more chances.
He said that he will appoint competent youths as governors and after one-year experience they will be promoted to governor generals.
Talking in Azad University in Gorgan, he promised the students to present plans for reducing the obligatory military service and also to help with university’s tuition fees.
